School Board

Annette W. Riesel is  Board President and founder of the school. Since 1998, she has co-founded three charter schools in Brighton, Colorado, K-12, and was principal of Northeast Academy Charter School during its start-up year. Ms. Riesel taught in a private boarding school, K-12, for 6-1/2 years when she first moved to Colorado in 1974 and taught at Aims Community College for 3-1/2 years before making a career change, becoming a partner in a group of community newspapers along the front range for 17 years before returning to the field of education.

John Kirsch is Board Vice President. Mr. Kirsch is president, Publisher and editor of the Fort Collins Forum, a local newspaper reaching 52,000 area homes. He has lived in Fort Collins since 1993. Prior to moving to Fort Collins, he was a publisher for American City Business Journals. He is a board member of the Center For Community Justice Partnerships, which helps at-risk youths and their families, and he is a member of the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce Local Legislative Affairs Committee.

Stephanie (Stevie) Benkendorf is Board Secretery. She moved to Loveland 37 years ago. She taught kindergarten in the Loveland Public schools for five years, then taught at the Namaqua Center, a school and home for children with excessive behavioral tendencies,  as well as taught 12 years in the Integrated Early childhood Program (which includes Head Start, Special Ed. And the Colorado Pre-school Program). Since retiring, she has helped with assessments of classrooms and students in the Program and is president of the Read Aloud Loveland Program. She is president of Philo, the oldest philantrhropic women’s organization in Loveland.  She has served as her church’s music director for the children’s choir, a Sunday school teacher, and member of the Women’s Planning committee, as well as being a member of the PEO organization and Retired Teacher’s Asso.

Ramsey Myatt  is Board Treasurer. He is the founder and partner of the oldest law firm in Ft. Collins. He was also the Asst. City Attorney of Ft. Collins. He served his country as a captain in the United States Marine Core as a pilot and legal officer. Mr. Myatt is a member of the Larimer County Bar Ass., and past president; and a member of the Colorado Bar Asso. He serves on the Food Distribution Center of Larimer County and was chairman in the early 1990s as well a being a member of the board of directors of VA..L.E.  (Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement Board). He has been an active, contributing member of the Ft. Collins community since 1970.
